After 19 years as Manager of the Fort Rouge Curling Club, I have decided to move on to a new chapter in my life. I am “retiring” from the role as Manager, with my last day of work being April 30, 2022. I am looking forward to reverting to being a relaxed and interested club member, having the time to do some volunteer work and finding a fun challenge via a new part time job, in a reduced stress environment.
It has been my honour to serve our great club, starting way back as Junior President in 1983/84, Club President in 2000/1 and finally taking on the Manager role in 2003. When I arrived in the Manager role in 2003, curling in the city was in a challenging phase. Like most other city clubs, we had financial challenges, an infrastructure deficit and a declining revenues. With a lot of hard work and planning, I leave satisfied that I have achieved all of my goals in the role and leave the club in a much better place than it was in 2003.
I am proud of the many accomplishments I have been able to contribute to, working with some great volunteers over the years, that have improved our great club, to see it reach its potential. It is pleasing that we are now considered by many to be the most successful club in Manitoba with an enviable financial status, highest membership in the province, great ice conditions, a warm and inviting lounge and of course our friendly hospitality.
I sign off with gratitude that I had the opportunity to manage our great club over the last 19 years, working with so many dedicated volunteers over the years, to help improve the Fort Rouge Curling Club to reach its potential, as the best curling club in Manitoba, with a strong future ahead.
Sincerely
