Fort Rouge CC’s stick curling league has grown from 12 teams playing one draw on Fridays to 36 teams playing Wednesday (12:45 PM) and Friday (12:45 & 2:00 PM) and another league possible.
We have mixed, women’s and men’s teams all playing in the same leagues and we have curlers with a wide range of ability and experience – from a player who had never stepped on the curling ice until last season to a player who “used to curl a lot” but had been off the ice for 20 years. Both love the stick game and both are playing in two leagues this year.
We have many players who are still playing four-person curling as well and, of course, we have many players who probably would not still be enjoying this great sport due to physical limitations.
Two-person stick play is a one-hour game (2 players, 6 rocks, 6 ends). It provides some exercise plus the camaraderie of the rink and a bit of an outlet for those who still like some competition. We play a 20-game season.
CURRENT AVAILABILITY INCLUDES:
Fridays (2:00 PM): TWO teams are needed – our plan will be to play with 10 or 12 teams
Wednesdays (12:45 PM): ONE team is needed to get us to the maximum 12 teams in this new league).
Wednesday (2:00 PM): We have three teams who have expressed interest and would add this new league if we had a minimum of EIGHT Teams.
Friday (12:45 PM) currently this league is full although we await confirmation from one returning team.
