The Fort Rouge Curling Club is pleased with the results of our FRCC teams at the recent men's and women's provincial championships.
In the provincial Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Team Lawes - Kaitlyn Lawes, Selena Njegovan, Jocelyn Peterman, and Kristin MacCuish (with Jill Officer playing in place of Selena) - lost a heartbreaker game in the semifinal. However, based on their solid CTRS ranking this season, they have qualified for the national Scotties Tournament of Hearts, Feb 17-26 in Kamloops, BC. We are confident they will be in the final mix at that event!
In the Viterra Championship, Team Dunstone - Matt Dunstone, BJ Neufeld, Colton Lott, and Ryan Harden coached by Adam Kingsbury - prevailed in a thrilling championship game to win the provincial title. Congratulations - we are sure you will represent the club and 'The Buffalo' well in the Brier, March 3-12 in London, Ontario!
Team Calvert - Braden Calvert, Kyle Kurz, Ian McMillan, and Rob Gordon - also lost a tough semifinal. Team Wiebe - Ryan Wiebe, Ty Dilello, Sean Flatt, Adam Flatt, and coach Tom Clasper - had a good run, but unfortunately lost in their last attempt to qualify for the final four. Both teams demonstrated they are legitimate competitors at this level and will be for years to come.
