The Manitoba Curling Hall of Fame today announced its Class of 2016.
The Fort Rouge Curling Club is pleased to announce two of our members are among this year's inductees.
Ron Westcott (Curler) and Bob Boughey (Curler/Builder) will be inducted at the annual dinner in May 2016.
Ron Westcott has a long and successful curling career which includes 42 appearances in Manitoba Championships including Men’s, Senior Men’s, Masters Men’s, and Mixed with an impressive record of 178 wins and 104 losses. He won the MCA Bonspiel Grand Aggregate in 1971 at third for Terry Braunstein, and skipped his own team to the 1981 MCA Bonspiel Free Press event title, the 1999 Manitoba Senior Men’s title, the 2010-2012-2014-2015 Manitoba Masters titles, and the 2015 Canadian Masters title. He also won a World Seniors silver medal in 2002 as a replacement skip on the Carl German team.
Bob Boughey is a respected competitor who has made a significant contribution to the sport as a Fort Rouge club executive member and president in 1993-94 as well as assuming a leadership position on several major event committees. He chaired the Hog Line Inn layout committee at the 1991 Worlds, served on the inaugural Safeway Select committee (1995-Winnipeg) and the Green Valley Junior Men’s committee (1996), chaired the Transportation committee for the 2003 Worlds and the Arena, Ice, and Rocks committee for the 2008 Brier. As a competitor, he has appeared in 36 Junior, Men’s, Senior and Masters provincial championships winning one senior and four Masters Manitoba titles and the 2015 Canadian Masters Championship as second for Ron Westcott.
