** 2020-2021 season – FRCC will be offering programming for junior curling, however, it will be different than past seasons….

The club is planning to run a regular season of curling for adult members and renters, (with new policies and procedures relating to Covid-19) but our Junior league is tentatively scheduled to begin in January 2021.

So what are we doing in the first half of the season??

We will offer small group clinics for interested juniors and coaches to teach the new rules of the game, in addition to going through the usual points of our past opening clinics (Mechanics, strategy and etiquette). These will be scheduled with the Junior coordinator during our regular Saturday evening time. These clinics will be an opportunity to share with our youngest players and their coaches the expectations of playing during a pandemic. We are taking our cues from the Province of Manitoba and Curl Canada, and as we move forward, guidelines and regulations are ever-changing.

Each junior interested in registering for a half league will be required to attend a minimum of 2 clinic sessions before registration will be accepted. Participation in more than 2 clinics will be permitted if desired.

Clinics will be offered most Saturdays in October and November and pre-registration will be required. There will be limited spaces available for each clinic. There will be a nominal fee associated with each clinic.

After each interested junior has attended a minimum of 2 clinics, they are permitted to sign up to use ice during our regular time for practice or throw together games. Ice must be reserved in advance. Again, there will be a nominal fee associated with registering for using the ice for 1.5 hours.

League fees for the half-season (approximately 10 games) will be set at $65.00 per player. Please remember, to be eligible to register for the league, players will have to attend at least 2 clinics in the fall.

More details will be forthcoming, but any interested individuals should email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or contact the Junior Chair as per the details below.

    Fort Rouge Junior Curling Program

The Fort Rouge Curling Club (FRCC) Junior Program is widely known in the Winnipeg curling community as the program where young curlers are first introduced to the sport of Curling.  Our grassroots Junior Program has been in existence at our current location since the 1950's and we continue to develop and introduce new curlers to the game.

Our Junior Program and facility provide a safe environment for young curlers to learn the game of curling, develop their skills, learn teamwork and leadership skills as well as developing friendships with other young curlers.

The FRCC is known both locally and internationally as a World Class Facility, and several of the World's most elite teams are Associates of the FRCC and practice at our facility regularly.  The Board of Directors have and continue to make significant investments in the facility.

    The Details - Saturday Afternoons - 4:00 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

This program runs from October to April each season, with approximately 20 weeks of curling.  During the first two weeks of the season, the league Coordinator and other volunteers work directly with brand-new curlers and provide on-ice instruction to teach the basic fundamentals and the rules of the game.  Teams are then created by the Coordinator and the teams compete against one another for the regular season, followed by playoffs.  We have a holiday celebration in December and a Windup dinner at the end of the season where trophies and prizes are awarded to the winners.
